Pursuing Mindfulness in Motherhood and Life

Eva Lorraine Is 4

February 27, 2020 Daily Life: Celebrating Motherhood's Moments No Comments

We’re entering birthday season again! Eva kicks off the birthday’s for the year in our family. She turned 4 yesterday, and I didn’t get a chance to get her birthday interview up then but I’m doing it now.

Her third year was one with so much growth–the sweet, can’t-believe-it-goes-so-fast kind, and the laborious, painful kind too. But we’ve made it to a sweet new stage, and her personality is just getting sweeter every day. She loves going to the library, reading stories, memorizing and reciting poetry, and playing with her family of baby dolls. She adores all the “babies” in her life, even the ones that aren’t technically babies anymore; her sweetness with the little ones just melts my heart into a puddle.

She always lays in my bed for naptime and today I heard her whispering under her breath after I told her it was time to go to sleep. I listened closer of course, and she was whispering, “Thank you, God, for mommy, and thank you for daddy, and thank you for my sister and brother and other brother. Thank you for our house, and thank you for the stars, and thank you for making this house so pretty.” There was more that I don’t remember, but it was precious. I’m so thankful for her thankful little heart, and we pray every day for the Lord to be gracious to her and save her and teach her to trust him always.
