Pursuing Mindfulness in Motherhood and Life

Homemaker Monday 1.23.3017

January 23, 2017 Daily Life: Celebrating Motherhood's Moments No Comments

Since I’m trying to get back to regular(ish) blogging this year, I thought I would jump back in on Homemaker Mondays with Diary of a Stay at Home Mom.  So here we are–I love blog linkups!

The weather: Dreary and rainy all day today.  It was pretty warm this morning–in the 50s–but by the time I went out this evening it was just 40 something.  Coupled with the cold drizzle… not my favorite way to be outside.

On My Reading Pile:  Oh dear… what isn’t on my reading pile would be a better question…  Currently reading  ‘The Readers of Broken Wheel Recommend’ by Katarina Bivald; Start Your Own Business by Entrepreneur Press; Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe; The Anti-Federalist Papers compiled by Ralph Louis Ketcham; Till Death Do Us Part by Amanda Quick; plus all the books I’m reading aloud with the kids right now but that’s a whole different blog post….

On My TV:  Not much.  See above.  Haha, I really do have way too much going on with my reading/writing/momming/education/business ventures to bother with TV, but I’m working through the Magicians on Netflix during my evening workout sessions.

On The Menu this week:

Monday–Taco Bake ~ Tuesday–Thai Red Curry with Pork and Rice.  The rest of the week is TBD, because I’ll do my menu planning and grocery shopping on Wednesday to take advantage of the best local sales.  It’s a weird time to do grocery shopping, but I can stack sales at one of my grocery stores on Wednesdays!

On My To-Do List:

Menu plan, general tidying, exercise.  I got some good decluttering done today, and am all caught up on laundry, so that’s nice.  Just have to get my booty out of this chair and do a workout and then I’ll basically be done for the night.

What I Am Creating:

A brochure for our IT business; covers for the CreateSpace version of our book (The House Cash Bought) and my latest historical novel (coming very, very soon!)

From the Camera:

Something Fun To Share:

I have been so impressed by all the classes on Lynda.com.  I can access it for free through my library resources, but it is so reasonable even if you have to pay on a monthly basis.  The courses are great, and they award certifications throughout.  I’m not sure how valuable the certs are in the job market, but you can add them to your Linked in profile.  I’m taking a course on Content Marketing now, and Graphic Design is up next, BUT they have courses on all sorts of things.  It’s pretty awesome!

What I’m Wearing Today: Just jeans, long sleeved shirt and a purple jacket.

One of my simple pleasures: Dark chocolate, and a little time browsing the new books at the library before I took the kids back to the kids section!

Bible Verse: Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you. Ephesians 4:31-32

Welcome to Minding My Peas

I’m Elizabeth, wife of superman and mother to my four little peas. We’re on a quest to pay off our second house, travel as a family, and spread the feast of a living education for our children.  I’m obsessed with books, budgets, chocolate, and learning new things.  Right here is where I’m trying to record the story of this life. Welcome!
